Town Board Meeting
May 4, 2026

Monday, May 4th at 5:30 pm a Public Information meeting was held by Columbia County Department of Public Works commissioner Raymond Jurkowski regarding the Buckwheat Road Bridge replacement affecting the Town of Clermont and the Town of Clermont. In attendance was Ms. Caroline Tarini, Project Manager for Greenman Pedersen, Inc, Joseph Adamczak, P.E. and several Town residents. After the presentation the two workstations were set up for questions and answer sessions. Residents were requested to sign in for attendance purpose. A second session will be held in the Town of Livingston. Public comment period is open until May 29th. Written comments shall be transmitted to: Mr. Raymond Jurkowski, P.E.

The Clermont Town Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 4th at the Town Hall. Those present were Supervisor Staats, Councilwoman Dawn Brownson, Councilwoman Lusher Shute and Councilman Anthony Finta. Absent was Councilman Kris Gildersleeve.

Meeting called to Order @7:00PM with the Pledge of Allegiance Led by Supervisor Staats

Approval of prior Town Board Meeting Minutes
Motion to accept the March, 2026 meeting minutes by Councilwoman Brownson Seconded by Councilman Finta. Motion Carried

TOTAL FOR APRIL GENERAL FUND $ 4231.02

Committee Reports and Updates

Anthony- Will work proposal and costs for email addresses, budgeted up to $1000.00 Motion by Councilwoman Lusher Shute, Seconded by Councilwoman Brownson. All in Favor. Would like to help on Web committee-Please add to the June agenda

Lindsey- Bus Cameras are shut off at County Line, will bring more information to June meeting. Climate Smart Committee would like to present at June meeting. Park -Lots of trees were planted for Arbor Day celebration. Thank you to Jennifer Phillips to taking this on. Claire is now working in the park with Kathy Dunn 

Estimate for pavilion via state bid/Parkitect-$171093.00 If the Highway Department can provide labor for prep work we can reduce that by ~$18,000. Motion made to move forward with Pavillion by Councilwoman Lusher Shute, Seconded by Councilman Finta. All in Favor.

Dawn- Awarded $1000.00 from Bank of Green County.  Wednesday to meet with Senator Hinchey’s office regarding Grant.  Will follow up with Didi Barretts office.  Fencing in park installed, Invoice received.  Float needed for Hudson Flag Day parade/Clermont participation requested

Old Business

Sales Tax Higher than last year. $151148.17

Germantown Solid Waste Station will remain open as it is the 3rd most used in the county. No additional closings at this time. Ongoing discussion on cost cutting measures. All bags will be increased by $1.00 effective passing of the county resolution within the next week or so. No changes in the scale pricing.

New Business

Stipulation Settlement-Reduction Midwood Village. Motion made by Councilwoman Brownson, Seconded by Councilwoman Lusher Shute. All in Favor.

Budget Amendment #2 of 2026

Decrease A8794.4 $5000.00 Increase A03910.1 $5000.00 Climate Smart Grant

Motion made by Councilwoman Brownson, Seconded by Councilwoman Lusher Shute. All in Favor.

Supervisors Report

Tracey Gallant-Town Clerk has been awarded her Registered Municipal Clerk (RMC) designation by the New York State Town Clerk’s Association.

Softball field specs to be forwarded to the Park committee.

Tousey Tin Barn- Motion made regarding opposition to application for Liquor License. Councilwoman Lusher Shute, Seconded by Councilwoman Brownson. All in Favor. For clarification purposes the venue does not follow the restrictions placed by the Planning/Zoning Boards placed at time of application approval.

Motion to pay Highway abstract #5 $18702.80 Motion by Councilman Finta Seconded by Councilwoman Brownson. Motion Carried
